Taunton Vale HC prides itself on being a family friendly club, welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for anyone who wants to be a part of it. To ensure this for our members, volunteers, and supporters we have a number of guidelines and polices, which all members are required to be familiar with as a condition of membership. Parents/guardians are required to make sure that their children are familiar with this information

Taunton Vale Hockey Club are committed to following the England Hockey respect code in relation to ethics, equality and diversity and expected behaviour. Alongside England Hockey we firmly believe Hockey is a sport that should be enjoyed by all who participate, be it as a player, official, volunteer or spectator. By following the respect this code we endeavour to deliver the highest standards of integrity throughout the club and can therefore ensure the sport is enjoyable for everyone. Safeguarding

Taunton Vale Hockey Club adopt England Hockey’s Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Hockey Policy, Equality Policy and Code of Ethics and Behaviour (Respect)and works in accordance with the policy contained in these documents.

Every individual and organisation within the Hockey Family has a role and responsibility to help ensure the safety and welfare of young people.

As a club who provide opportunities for young people in hockey we accept we are required to fulfil our duty of care which means that we must do everything that can be reasonably expected of us to help safeguard and protect young people from any reasonably foreseeable harm.

In providing hockey coaching for children and young people under 18 years of age Taunton Vale Hockey Club appoint a Welfare Officer. Ruth Fitzmaurice is our current, registered with England Hockey, the Club Welfare Officer and should be the first point of contact for coaches, managers, players, volunteers, parents and U18s should there be any concerns about child welfare, poor practice or child abuse.

Planning Safe Hockey

Taunton Vale Hockey Club is committed to providing a safe environment for all players, coaches, spectators and parents to enjoy the game.

Defibrillator

Taunton Vale Sports Club have a defibrillator on site, please see image below for location.

Concussion Injuries

If you suffer an injury whilst playing Hockey please report it directly to England Hockey HERE please also inform your head of section.

All playing members, adult and junior, should seek further medical attention when struck (by ball, stick or other) on the head and around the neck area. England Hockey guidance and protocol should be followed.
